Swirl

Why do we swirl wine? To allow oxygen to get into the wine. Swirling releases the esters, ethers, and aldehydes that combine with oxygen to yield a wine's bouquet. In other words, swirling aerates the wine and releases more of the bouquet and aroma.

More than 90 percent of all quality white wine is made from these three grapes. They are listed here in order from the lightest style to the fullest:

Riesling               Sauvignon Blanc      Chardonnay

This is not to say that world-class white wines comes from only these grapes, but knowing these three is a good start.
