Well I have done some back sliding I have gained a few pounds not because I stopped excercising but because I have thrown caution to the wind and been eating what ever I want. But I still feel good about myself I am a worthwhile sexy funny sensative caring woman no matter what size my pants are!
At our '10 10's' meeting this week we had the chance to do some improv excercises with Ken Ferguson from Exit 185 Improv. I have to say I was terrified and almost did not go. But I learned that it is about learning to trust and helping each other and not letting a fellow participant hanging out on a limb. And before I knew it I was laughing and wanting more and it was time to go. I will be looking for some more of those improv excercises and perhaps take a class that they offer. Not because I want to be a comedian or actress I just like how a good laugh makes me feel!

Yes! Remember that each day is a chance for a new beginning to start new habits. Habits that support your self-care plan, honor your values and build your boundaries. Remember YOU are in control of your life by choosing, EACH choice is either building a future you love or a future that will be the same as your past. You guys are doing great-when you fall down GET back up and trust yourself that you can start again. Remember to forgive yourself and love yourself.

Ok I have had a good and bad week. It was our anniversary lst week so we went away for the weekend. I tried very hard to conquer my fears as we went driving up some pretty steep hills. And we went antique shopping and I found some of funerary items to add to my collection.
But alas as the week has started I have not been to Jazzercise and am now on my 2nd no make that my 3rd glass of wine this evening. What started out as a bad day has turned worse but is now ending calmly and serenly as I plan to take a hot shower and rinse off the negativity and let it flow down the drain. Tomorrow is a new beginning and a new chance to improve my life.

Wow, it is that simple! Hip, hip hooray! (smile) Lesson for the evening, quit trying to make things harder than they seem! Sometimes the answser is just right in front you!

For those of you wondering who in the heck is Hilda...I'm the virtual student participating via NYC where I'm currently working. I was not fortunate to land work in Phoenix and instead found some here. Not the place where I want to be....but the need to earn a paycheck is larger than my personal needs to be in sunny CG!

But in case my words haven't been shared at your meetings, I want to make sure that you all know that in each of your comments and Dena's wisdom has all been keeping me sane on the East coast. So thank you all for that! I was making daily goals and once I got back here I kind of lost track of them due to work....so today I started making my goals again. And tomorrow I'm setting aside time for me and me only to do what I need to do to make me feel like I achieved my goals!

Hello Team! I'm actually rather embarassed because I consider myself to be extremely technically savvy and I haven't figured out how to post to this group. And when I search for it, it never comes up in the fieldQ!?!?!

So then I thought it is as easy as posting in this section? But then if so, how will you all know it's from me!?!? Well I guess I have to post this one and see what happens, right?

Lastly, I want to remind you about the important part of values to your future. If you don't know your values (the things that you stand for most) then goal setting will be like shooting in the dark. If you know that your values are love, family and inspiration, then you can plan your goals in alignment to those values. When people say that they are living a life they love or a life of purpose it's because what they are DOING is aligned to their VALUES, which is very fulfilling. And just the opposite, when people say they are unhappy or unfulfilled it's because they don't know their values (hence didn't create a future with their values in mind) or they forgotten the importance of their values to their future/goals. Your future is going to turn out how you create, so create it with love and aligned to your values!

When you are planning a goal what often happens is that our 'smallness' attacks us! Oh MY! It is that part of you that wants to stay small, think small, self-doubt and fail. So if you clear your mind of that smallness, and get present to your greatness (the side that wants you to think big!) then you have achieved the first step. After you are feeling good and thinking big, then plan your work. Create a clear and specific plan for your goals. With that plan include: The end result, at least 3 milestones, and dates for the milestones. That way when you hit (or don't hit) your milestones you'll know where you stand.

So everyone has had a few days since our last session: Pursuing Your Passions! In that session we talked more about the process of goal setting and the mindset for goal setting. One thing I deeply believe in is clearing yourself OFTEN. This means getting present to your highest self! Here's the 'clearing' I wrote for the last session:
    Clearing:
Sit down and relax. Let all the stress, worries, resentments and conflicts drain out of your body. Watch them flow away from you. breath in deeply. Feel your heart expanding and glowing with beauty and love. Allow your greater, higher self be present today. Release your past and any constraining or limited beliefs around your abilities to achieve. Forgive yourself and all others that told you that you couldn't succeed at something. Allow your own devine light shine and know that when you were born you became deserving in that moment and that love, health, wealth, mind, body and spirit fulfillment is now waiting for you. Now release ANY limiting beliefs that have kept you stuck, emotionally, physically, financially, or spiritually. All barriers to my full expression and enjoyment of life are now dissolved. The world is waiting for me to shine, to love, to live. I love giving and I love receiving. The process of receiving starts with being (your mindset) and now your mindset is ready to receive your plans for your goals and passions.

Wow, I feel so powerful! I can do anything! Be anything! Who has been stopping me? The little voices in my head or the leftover personas from past lives. Why is it we let observations that someone, who probably doesn't know us that well, make one time define us forever? Like - your the single mom, the pregnant teen, the dumb blonde,... We can all be anything if we just let ourselves!

Starting over again! I would say I have let a few set backs get in the way of staying focused on my goals the last few weeks. So here I go once again. I know it is going to get better as long as I stick to my plan and revise as necessary when new obstacles pop up.

It sounds like everyone is moving along great! Remember that with every 'breakdown' comes a breakthrough. Keep moving through the uncomfortable things to the other side. BE your word, DO the work, GET results! It DOES get easier as these lessons become habits. There will be a few things to think about before the net session which is about going after your passion/goals. Until then BE your word, DO the work, GET results! BE your word, DO the work, GET results!

    GO Team!

I had some bad days this month, I found out I have a bleeding ulcer and just when I thought I was getting my stress under control. But I also found out that my crying jags and anxious moments are probably from menopause. I am using some hormones, very carefully with my wonderful doctors' supervision and I feel alot better. (If anyone is struggling with all that stuff and needs a great doc let me know I have her number.) I still feel like I am in my 20's til I look in the mirror and then I wonder who is that?
After weeks of remodeling our bathrooms and having to plead my case to my husband that, yes, this is the way I want it; yes, that is the color I want, we are finally done. So last Saturday morning we took off for a day trip we packed a bag just in case we were having too good a time and decided to stay the night. So we headed north and ended up staying in a B&B, No TV, No internet, No cell phone service. We ended up going to a lodge for dinner and having a couple of drinks while watching a jazz band,it was some very nice couple time. And when we got to our room I discovered something about my husband whom I have known for more than 10 years, he plays chess and is teaching me now. Now before you think, how romantic, no it wasn't like that I wish I could say he swept me off no we just both needed to get away from the daily grind. Away from the phone where when it rings its either my mom needing something or my youngest daughter calling to ask for money or my other daughter hoping I want to move back to Indiana because she misses me,and it all makes me feel guilty because I can't fix everything.
Through this program I have learned I have to take care of myself no one else can & what works for me might not work for others but I have to hold myself accountable because I cannot complain about what is wrong if I am not doing something to make ME better. Positive thinking and actions make for positive results. I have also been scheduling my time and spending it wisely. I still have days when I wonder - where did the time go but I am more conscious of my time and don't spend it on things that don't serve me or make me productive. I am lucky to be in this group with some pretty amazing women. I love working at LifeStyles Magazine what a class act and how remarkable these ladies are, I am so glad to be in their company!

Re Dena's assignment of mid-August: the idea of focused, calm prep for the next day is effective. The idea has evolved for me so that I do as much prep as I can for tomorrow...including me time.. the night before.Example: Arlene and I are in Sue Conn-Hood's 7:15a fitball class. Putting the fitball, my Yoga mats and my workout bag in the car the night before sure does de-stress the early morning. Don't have to go find anything-- just get in the car and drive to class. I'd only been doing it all in the early am for two years!

Again, the homework. my family and I do dine at the same time every night and have for some time--We just don't do it in the same room. It's hard to compete with NCIS and Bones reruns. I've specifically planned family dinners a couple of times and there was good, if carefully neutral, conversation.

Chinese take-out seems to get everybody to the table.

Hello team! My name is Brent. Sue Conn Hood told me about 10x10 and asked me if I wanted to
join. I looked at the program and thought Wow! what an opportunity to get some direction about
shaping the next phase of my life. I'm married, have four grown children, and one grandson.

The, "next phase of my life", is that I retired, for the second time, exactly three years before our august meeting. I've kind of schlepped around for three years doing whatever needed to be done.No particular direction, no particular goal to pursue....Because I'm faced with too many choices: start racing bicycles again, start racing karts again, start racing cars again, read the 'hundred greatest books', finally learn to speak spanish,etc.. You
    get the idea.

I met with Dena two weeks ago Saturday. The further I get from that dialogue the smarter
Dena gets. I wanted a matrix for making choices. Dena wants me to codify personal values so the choices make themselves. Working on it...

    Smart woman.

I just wanted to check in with you guys to see how your homework went with being more conscience of your time? How did you do with the homework (below)? What were your wins or nonwins from doing it? Did you see how your 'being' often drove your 'actions' which drove your 'results'? If you want different results you've got to start with shifting your way of being first. Please post your thoughts here about any insights you had about organization and time management.

I made my goal of going to jazzercise 3 times this week but I consumed more calories than I should have so I have cut back the last couple of days. I need to be responsible for my eating habits - nobody puts food or a beer in my hand.
I found out I have an ulcer, just when I thought I was learning to handle my stress better. So I am going to concentrate on learning what my stress triggers are and how to either fix the problem or deal with it in a responsible way. No more willy nilly make a plan and stick to it.
Highs - made some good contacts for work, got a gal to come in and do some cleaning for my mom so I don't have to feel guilty about not having the time to do it, cleaning out my house of unused items and furniture.
Lows - colonoscopy (need I say more)

Today's session was on time management and organization:

Remember that your 'way of being' has a lot to do with how organized you are. If you are being specific, or being organized or being a planner then you will be leading a more clear and powerful day verses if you are being crazed, or being frantic or being vague. So watch how you are being and therefor watch your results rise!

One thing that many people do is overwhelm their to-do list. So I gave the participants a simplified to-do list that you can find on my page (under Lifestyle Experts on this website). This way you start each day off with a clear plan and you play for 100% accomplishment.

The whole game is to create a life you love, cut out everything that doesn't serve (compliment) your life and your goals. Don't waste time and don't give your time away. Manage yourself and your time to accomplish your goals and be 100% each day.

The homework for today was created to help you stay present, BE committed, and manage your time in a worth while manner:
    1. For 7 days eat dinner as a family and ask your family to share their high and their low of their day
    2. For 7 days spend 10 minutes a night preparing for the next day (this is specifically for DOING anything that needs to be done)
    3. For 7 days spend 7-10 minutes each morning just on preparing for your day (this is specifically for the BEING (mindsetting for the day---mentally/spiritually) - this can be in your own way, whether it's journal about the goals of the day, meditating, praying, etc.

If you ever want to read my articles/blogs on boundaries it will give you a refresher on how important boundaries are to organizing your life. Also a couple downloadable worksheets (bottom right corner) will help too:

AWARENESS!!! Key number one on working toward my goals.... making conscious efforts instead of running on auto pilot to get by. That's not to say I don't zone out at times but I can start each day with "good morning God" instead of "good God it's morning" and go with it.

    My little "wins" this week:
    * I have made it a point to play my guitar EVERY night (even if its only for 15 minutes) because that's something I used to enjoy, and let slip through the cracks.
*When I come home from work for the day, I flip off the "work switch" and make sure that I spend time, doing things for me and my family.

At our 10 10's meeting on Sunday we talked about things that make us stress and it was nice to find out that, I am not alone when it comes to meeting new people and entering new situations how I get very insecure and uncomfortable. I really thought it was just me, how I can only think of how my thighs are too big or I have a wrinkle or I don't have the latest fashion and never consider how other people may feel the same way. Ladies we are all in this together we have to stick together and support our comrades together we can change our world.

A little tip about Be Do Have. BE your highest self, DO the actions consistent to that highest self, and HAVE results that are consistent with your goals. It all starts with your way of being FIRST. BE committed, BE powerful, BE greatness, BE accountable....the rest will follow! When you listen to your greatness it will always steer you right. It's when you listen to your smallness that gets you in trouble (your smallness always wants instant gratification which usually diverts you from your bigger goal). Let your greatness shine!

Well, I have to admit, until this last week, I have done "alright" at best! I have had a lot on my plate and have used it as an "I'm too busy" excuse. But no more of that! I have set myself a morning and a nighttime routine that I have stuck to EVERY day for the last 7 days! In the morning, I wake up, make my bed, write in my journal, exercise for 30 minutes, shower and get ready for my day, immediately clean up the bathroom, unload the dishwasher, check my calendar for appointments, and set my game plan for the day. I have felt so great after accomplishing these things every morning and have found that throughout my day I continue this productive mood and get much more done! It's great! I have also been eating healthier, more balanced meals, and I feel great! My challenge for myself this week, is to spend more time doing the little things I used to enjoy, that have slipped through the cracks over the past few years! I'm reclaiming my identity! Until next time,

Remember to take BABY steps. If eating and movement (some kind of exercise) is the priority this week, then just make tiny milestones around those two goals. It's easy to get ahead of yourself. But the other topics (that we will cover in this program are in the future, so don't worry about those now). Focus on being your word, making better choices and baby steps around eating and exercise. You are doing great! Don't forget that each moment is a new beginning, so if you 'mess up' the next moment is a chance to start over and get recommitted to your word. Prepare your weekend to have healthy choices, healthy food choices and some time to MOVE!

Yay, I made it to Jazzercise this AM and feel good!! I have dropped 35 pounds since moving to Arizona last May and am down a few pants size since joining CG Jazzercise. I like the anonymity of being in a class and following the teacher, also I would never push myself as much if I were at home on my own.
I have been prioritizing more it helps alot with work not to get bogged down with unimportant things and taking time for myself instead of racing around getting everything done. I even put my mom off when she wanted to go to the grocery store, I fit it in when it was a good time for my schedule. Well better get it's time to make the donut's - just not eat them!!

Trying to change so many areas of my life at the same time is proving to be a bit of a challenge. Not that I did not expect that but I am noticing where my priorities are. Or maybe where they are not is a better way to put it.

So far with work, home, family and even eating is going great. The physical exercise is where I am lacking all motivation. I am not giving up but I think I need to find something that is going to get me going and does not involve leaving home right now. The thought of sweating before I get to the gym because it is 110 degrees outside is bad enough.

If anyone has suggestions I am all ears.

I am a single, working woman, mother of two grown daughters, and a grandmother of five wonderful grandchildren. I have long hours and don't like to think of myself as a workaholic but I can push the envelope on that one. Working a 4/10 schedule makes for a long day so I am trying to incorporate a balance into my life between work, family, home, and health. Working with the 10-10 group is hopefully just that boost I need to change gears toward that balance.

Well I didn't wake up in time to go to the gym today. I made everyone hustle to get the kitchen cleaned then off to bed after. So Mom was no fun tonight but is is nice to have a clean house! I feel a bit relaxed now. Kim, I love your BABY STEPS. That's what it is about. Take a couple goals and work on those today! It's great that you ate 3 meals and at good times, that's a great start! Each morning remind yourself of what the goals are for that day ONLY. You are on the right track! For those following along, make your own daily goals (small ones) and achieve those first then move on. TIP of the day-if you don't honor your OWN boundaries no one else will EITHER.

I will fill everyone in on a few details now that we are four days into this and feel like I still need to get started. Elaborating on the workaholic thing for starters... I am co-owner of a marketing company that's primary focus is publishing a magazine. Though there are many other irons in the fire there as well. This brings us to my first goal: Leave the office early whenever possible. That is much harder than it sounds... I haven't accomplished it yet. I think just to leave by 5:30 will be my goal to start.

Next - fitness. I am not overweight. I could loose a few pounds and do some serious toning. Usually I work out when the urge hits me, not very often. My goal in this area is to work up to an hour of some sort of exercise five days a week... I haven't managed to accomplish one this week. I am going to set my alarm again for tomorrow morning.

Home & Family: Why is it that the people we love the most are the ones who suffer? My number one motivation for success is my children. Yet time and time again I have chosen to do something for work instead of hang out with them. I do need to work a lot. Now I have to remind myself to play as well. I WILL put at least one outing a week on my calendar where my phone is off and it is all family time. No one call, email or text this coming Sunday. My phone will be off! I am not failing at this one.

Healthy eating: I am not talking about granola... Yet. For starters I am trying not to skip meals. I can say for the first time all week, today I had three meals. To make it even better they were at reasonable hours. WOOO WHOO! I am going to sustain that for a week or so before talking about whether they were fried or not=) One step at a time.

Going to bed now so I can be in the gym at 6a.m. Good night All!

My name is Jodi I am 49 & the mother of 3 grown kids, that I raised pretty much on my own. Last May, my wonderful husband of almost 4 years and I took a giant leap, sold just about everything we owned and moved here from Indiana, my widowed mother also came with us. I have always been afraid to set goals because I never felt I could accomplish them. I have already had a sort of break through after just one meeting and am looking forward to embracing my obscurities and fixing(some of)my flaws and just learning to be ME, but better!

Hi team! This is going to be a great, wild and fabulous journey. At moments you'll love it, but like all coaching programs it will also be challenging (but hang in there because that is where the magic is!). Integrity and commitment are the only things you will need for this 6 month journey, so let's get started! All the participants will be 'journaling' here so you can follow their progress. You are invited to ask questions and watch their progress. This week is just about getting started then we will take on a different topic every 2 weeks.
