Being a grown-up can be lonely. So often we spend our days alone, even if we are surrounded by people. Yet, taking the time to connect with people you care about in a positive way is very important to managing your stress and keeping your heart healthy. Could a social networking site the answer?

Yes, it could. Connecting with friends over social networking sites like ChatChewandChocolate.com and Facebook.com is a great way to feel connected, be positive, reduce your stress, and improve your heart health.

Today, we don't have coffee in the kitchen or the chat over the back fence. Our lives are busy and rushed. A quick check of a social networking site offers the opportunity to share in the joy of your friends' day, commiserate on challenges and connect quickly.

Women who maintain positive friendships with other women are 30% less likely to develop heart disease - so yes, Chat Chew and Chocolate is good for your heart!

A recent study indicates that happiness and health are contagious. If you are in contact with someone who is happy, your chances of becoming happy increase by 15%. In addition, if you are in contact with people who are improving their health by quitting smoking, losing weight, exercising more, or eating better, you are more likely to develop healthy habits.

So, use your social networking sites to connect with positive and healthy friends -- it is good for your heart!

A word of warning: What can be a great tool, can also create stress if you over use it. Be careful not to create Electronic Induced Stress (editorial note: link to Unplug article).
