Most would say that the economy is still rough, and for those who are dealing with your husband out of work you know that it not only brings economic stress but emotional stress on both of you. A lot of men wrap their identity around their title at work so when the title goes away it often leaves them in an identity crises (which explains the mood swings!). But as I like to remind everyone a title is something that comes in AND out of your life. Instead of getting attached to a title (which you think gives you validation) get attached to developing your values and spirit, and let your TITLE simply be an expression of your values and spirit. This goes for retirees too! Most men are stuck on the notion of being the "provider" for the family. But that word can shift definitions if you allow it to. Men who are now staying home can look at still being the provider, but instead of providing money, they now provide love and time. Personally, I think every man should go through a stay-at-home-dad month to see what it's really like. There's another title I don't like: stay-at-home-mom. I don't know one Mom who stays home! I think the title should be Full Time Mom, hey that sounds more like it. So lets all try to change our definition of titles and see 'provider' in a new way and 'full time moms' in a new way! Game on !
