Sometimes all it takes to create a period feel in your home is the appropriate use of fabrics and color. For a Victorian feel use heavy drapes combined with lace sheers then lather on strong colors and patterns on the wall. Like the Empire look? How about tenting your ceiling or pasting your walls with pictorial wallpaper? And 18th C country look can be achieved with simple pine furniture, pale wall colorings and quilts draped on beds (or walls)! Prefer something more dramatic? Go gothic or medieval with tapestries on the walls, damask on the windows and richly colored woolens draped over the bed. Getting a period feel in your home is as easy as 1,2,3!
