A great way to incorporate your travel memories into your home decor is to shop for a particular item while on holiday. I dedicate a long hall wall in my home to antique maps of each country I visit while my mantle boasts a collection of antique globes from around the world. One friend buys small paintings of each major city she visits - this enhances her home decor while giving her something special to shop for on holiday. Another friend buys antique etchings in each city she visits - while the theme of each print is different, the coloring & shape of each is similar giving a soothing monochromatic effect. The cluster of framed prints hangs above her couch and guests always comment on her eclectic decor, opening the door for her to tell travel tales of the time she purchased the various images.
