Smoking puts your risk of heart disease in fast forward. Researchers found women who smoke have heart attacks 12 to 15 years earlier than women who don't smoke.
Which means not only are you three times more likely to get heart disease if you smoke, you are also more likely to develop it at a young age.
Women who live or work with smokers double their risk for earlier heart attacks. This is not good news for women working their way through college as waitresses in smoky establishments!
Women who are using hormonal birth control should be particularly careful to avoid smoke as it exponentially increases their risk.
