Before I met and married my husband, I dreaded living the single life. And I know a lot of women out there fear the thought of being alone for the rest of their lives.

Fear not, ladies. Here are some tips that will help you make the leap from the single life to a life filled with romance.

1. Take a look around you - a good, hard look. Your knight in shining armor might work in the cubicle next to you, go to the same gym, or hang out with mutual friends. You may already know them, but have never considered them as possible "boyfriend" material. Take the blinders off and start considering everyone around you who is single.

2. Let your friends know you are in the market. Now, don't pressure your friends to set you up with someone they know. Simply let them know you're in the market - you never know what will happen.

3. Put on your party hat! Accept every invitation to every social event to which you are invited. The more people you meet, the better your chances of finding love. Smile and work the room when you attend these events. Look like your having fun as people want to be associated with people who appear happy and content.

4. Use non-traditional methods of meeting people. A couple of my friends have had great success meeting their mates through online dating networks. Again, you never know when or where you will find true love.

5. Volunteer, join a sport, attend church. Most people who remain single aren't really putting themselves out there to find true love. They stick to their own routines, hang out with the same people. If you want your life to change, you have to start behaving differently and meet new people.
