If you are a busy woman with multiple roles and responsibilities we
call you a Superwoman! You are fabulous at juggling all those things,
however the downside is you might be suffering from the Superwoman
Syndrome, where your life becomes all-consuming and you lose yourself
and/or lose sight of balanced priorities. It can lead to small things like migraines and anxiety, up to illness, divorce and addictions, or even worse heart disease and death. In our research this happens
through three main reasons: 1) little 'me time' (to self-reflect on your basics of life (your priorities) and keep things in check) 2) little 'friend time' (girlfriends help
us see through the forest and give us perspective, advice and love which helps thing stay in balance) 3)
no self-care plan (important to have boundaries so you can keep
yourself emotionally, physically and spiritually healthy). If that's
you then stick around CCC for inspiration and empowerment on how to
overcome the Superwoman Syndrome and enjoy more fun, balance and joy in
your life!
It's easy to get consumed in a behavior that doesn't serve your greater self, your heart and your priorities, and although it's hard to admit, as the Boundaries Coach and CEO of Chat, Chew & Chocolate, I've seen hundreds of women overcome this Syndrome and create a life they love. So can you! It might be that you are all-consumed in the 'mommy' role and you've forgotten about the 'wife' role, or you are all-consumed in the 'business' role and forgotten about the 'mommy' role, or you are all-consumed in addiction and forgotten about your health. Whatever it is, let's be in the conversation together to find a better balance in your roles and in your life. Want to read about one woman's journey from Superwoman Syndrome that ended her in jail, read it here.
This is a subject I'm passionate about and have dedicated my life to creating solutions about the Superwoman Syndrome. A few ways you can start battling the Superwoman Syndrome are these babysteps:
1. Give yourself 10 minutes a day to find your center and spend some time there doing nothing else.
