Heels can be so alluring and fun to wear; they can definitely take an ensemble from Va to Va-Va Voom, but the truth of the matter is that most of us are on our feet a good chunk of the day. That said, there are heels to walk and stand in and there are heels for sittin' pretty in and it's important to know the difference between the two! The girl walking down the street wincing with every step, looking as if she'd pay top dollar for a pair of flip-flops to ease her pain is not who you want to be. Sadly, I think all of us have been there at one point or another. But, back to the task at hand, shoes. Kalyn's list of must-haves:
Driving moccasins - They take the place of sneakers (i.e., shoes worn to the gym).
Ballet flats - Ditto (substitute with flat sandals in the warmer months).
Funky tennies - Not to be mistaken for sneakers.
Wedges - The multi-tasking heels. You can comfortably wear them to work daily, for a day of shopping or a night out on the town.
Platforms - Splurge on a colorful pair to brighten up any night on the town.
Low heels - Roger Vivier in bottle green will add a fantastic pop of WoW! to just about any thing you wear.
Good 'ole heel heels - Pumps of all sorts from Mary Janes, D'Orsay or sling backs to show a bit of flesh to a great pair of deep purple Roger Vivier pumps.
Stilettos - The father is Manolo and the son is Jimmy, Christian (Loubatin that is) is the stepson, but he's quickly gaining on both although his prices take things to a whole 'nother stratosphere.
i. For the colder months focus on closed toe wedges and pumps;
ii. For the warmer climes and months, strappy sandals, interesting flat sandals and espadrilles can do wonders for just about any outfit; and
iii. For those special nights out when you're wearing a LBD or some other cocktail frock, peu de soie (silk for the uninitiated) embellished with a little bling fits the bill.
