When I see blood, I cringe. For many, when they see a financial statement, they do the same. Seem completely unrelated? Not really. You see, we cringe because we are afraid of what might happen. In a hospital, we assume blood is bad and that we may need surgery or die. In our mind, because it is unknown, we are fearful. It is the same thing when you get a statement in the mail and you don't open it. You are afraid of what it says, that the news will be bad and that you won't have any money left.

My drive as a financial advisor is to help people move through this fear and help them meet their money matters with excitement and interest. Just as a doctor sees treatment as a fact of life and doesn't tie emotion to the treatment, I have learned the same thing about investing. I know that in order to get to retirement, I need to invest a certain way. This is what I want to pass on to you. Not the knowledge about every product or issue that there is out there, but to have that thirst for knowledge about money and to see it as interesting and fun. The more you read about and "play" with your money, the less fear and dread you will have surrounding it. So I encourage you to try some of the tips mentioned or go to a class on money management because learning about your money takes years to learn. In the end, you are well rewarded with less sleepless nights and arguments about money, and that is worth a fortune in itself to many.
