10 Principals for Becoming a Well-Balanced Superwoman
Below are my top 10 top principals of boundaries so you can leave behind the "busy, scattered, pulled-in-a million-directions-Superwoman" to become a focused, changing-the-world, well-balanced Superwoman. Most of us want to become the best (mom, employee, wife, messenger, friend, teacher, dreamer, daughter that we can be), however when we are so exhausted we do not have the capacity to create our journey-instead we fall victim to it. But good news!
That can change. TODAY.
You are a powerful woman and learning to communicate your values, your voice and your boundaries takes daily practice. But start today with baby steps. Choose one or two of these per week (or month) to work on:
1. Honor yourself by managing your capacity (i.e. setting realistic limits, learning my 85% rule and saying "no" often).
2. Find a platform to share your authentic gifts, spirit and love to others. Be a role model.
3. Create a self-care plan, and stick to it. If you are unhealthy, your career and your relationships will be to (plus this is a big one for self-esteem, plus your children need a role model to see the importance of self respect/care).
4. Simplify. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, loving or joyful. (Tip: Physical clutter and emotional clutter will stop you from creating your dream life).
5. Be careful not to get consumed by your roles (i.e., parent, career, business, board member etc) they are not your identity, they are a role. Tip: Step out of your roles daily for 10 minutes for meditation, prayer, inventory check for red flags.
6. Be intentional in keeping yourself balanced, healthy and happy. Know what brings you those things and do them on a regular basis.
7. Be your biggest fan, not your enemy. (You'll learn how to listen to your greatness voice verses your smallness voice)
8. People won't honor your boundaries just 'because'. You must honor your boundaries first, and then others will follow.
9. Create more play (at work, at home, with your kids, etc). Laughing and joy are important.
10. Surround yourself with people who empower and honor you. Get rid of the rest.
